Because our service involves you sending us physical tapes and us returning them along with your digital files, shipping works a little differently to a typical online store. Here's how it all works.
Sending Your Tapes to Us
By post or courier (Australia-wide)
You are responsible for posting or couriering your tapes to us. We recommend using a tracked service so you can monitor delivery. Our postal address will be provided when you place your order.
Local drop-off (Perth / Fremantle area)
If you're in the Perth or Fremantle area, you're welcome to arrange a direct drop-off. Contact us to organise a convenient time. This is the quickest option and avoids postage entirely.
International orders
We accept tapes from overseas. You are responsible for postage to us. Please declare the contents accurately on customs forms — they are personal family recordings, not commercial goods. Standard international postage is fine; there is no need for express services unless you prefer them.
How to Pack Your Tapes
Your tapes have survived this long — let's make sure they arrive safely. A few tips:
- Wrap each tape in a layer or two of bubble wrap, or use scrunched paper to prevent movement
- Use a padded satchel or sturdy box — don't send tapes in a plain envelope
- Avoid placing heavy items in the same parcel
- Do not use rubber bands around the tapes — they can damage the cassette housing over time
- Include your name and order number inside the parcel (a simple handwritten note is fine)
No special preparation of the tapes themselves is needed. You don't need to rewind them, clean them, or test them beforehand.
Return Shipping — Your Tapes and Files
Domestic (within Australia)
Return postage is included in your order price. We return your original tapes — along with your USB drive or DVDs if ordered — via standard Australia Post at our cost.
If you would prefer express or tracked return shipping, please let us know when you place your order. A small surcharge applies for upgraded return postage.
International returns
Return postage for international orders is included at standard international rates. We will use the most reliable standard service available for your destination country. Express international returns are available at additional cost — contact us for a quote.
Local collection (Perth / Fremantle area)
If you dropped off your tapes locally, you're welcome to collect them in person when your order is complete. We'll let you know when everything is ready.
Delivery Timeframes
Once your order is complete, we will dispatch your tapes and delivery media promptly. Typical delivery times after dispatch:
- Perth metro area: 1–3 business days
- Regional Western Australia: 3–5 business days
- Eastern states (NSW, VIC, QLD, etc.): 3–7 business days
- International: 7–21 business days depending on destination
These are estimates based on standard postal services and are not guaranteed. Actual delivery times may vary due to factors outside our control.
Lost or Damaged in Transit
We take every reasonable precaution when packing your return parcel. However, once your parcel is in the hands of the postal or courier service, transit is outside our direct control.
If your return parcel does not arrive within a reasonable timeframe, please contact us and we will work with the postal service to locate it. If your tapes were lost or damaged during return transit and we used a tracked service, we will assist with any claims process.
We recommend using a tracked service when sending your tapes to us. If your tapes are lost during inbound transit (before they reach us), we are unable to accept responsibility, but we will do everything we can to help resolve the situation.
